Ryan C. Kelley Named Chief Investment Officer
March 1, 2021 - Hennessy Funds today announced the promotion of Ryan C. Kelley, CFA, to Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Kelley will have primary responsibility for portfolio management operations for the firm’s family of mutual funds. Neil Hennessy, the firm’s founder who previously held the CIO title, will now serve as Chief Market Strategist focusing on market and economic analysis, and he will continue to provide strategic outlook and direction for the firm.

He has consistently demonstrated a high level of excellence in portfolio management and commitment to our Fund shareholders, and we are very pleased to promote him to lead our team of investment professionals,” said Mr. Hennessy.
Kelley brings nearly 25 years of financial services experience, having held positions in investment banking, institutional research, trading, and portfolio management. He joined Hennessy Funds in 2012 through the acquisition of FBR Funds and has been instrumental in improving and streamlining portfolio management and trading. Kelley is often quoted in the financial media for his market outlook and investing insights as well as for his expertise regarding natural gas, utility, and financial stocks.

Kelley received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College (OH). He is a CFA charterholder and member of both The Boston Security Analysts Society and the CFA Society North Carolina.
