Broad Run Investment Management is an independent, employee-owned investment adviser headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. The team of industry veterans at Broad Run each average over 12 years of investment management experience and an average of over eight years working on the Hennessy Focus Fund.

David Rainey, CFA

Co-Portfolio Manager

David is a founding member of the Broad Run Investment Management team. In 2009, he joined FBR Funds as the Co-Portfolio Manager of the FBR Focus Fund (the Predecessor to the Hennessy Focus Fund). David served as Senior Research Analyst at Akre Capital Management, which he joined in 1998. He previously held investment management and security analysis positions with the Federal National Mortgage Association (“Fannie Mae”), the Student Loan Marketing Association (“Sallie Mae”) and with Wheat First Securities.

David received a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia and his MBA from Duke University.

Brian Macauley, CFA

Co-Portfolio Manager

Brian is a founding member of the Broad Run Investment Management team. In 2009, he joined FBR Funds as the Co-Portfolio Manager of the FBR Focus Fund (the Predecessor to the Hennessy Focus Fund). Brian served as a Research Analyst at Akre Capital Management, which he joined in 2003. He previously held investment analyst positions with Credit Suisse First Boston and with Wachovia Securities.

Brian received a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.

Ira Rothberg, CFA

Co-Portfolio Manager

Ira is a founding member of the Broad Run Investment Management team. In 2009, he joined FBR Funds as the Co-Portfolio Manager of the FBR Focus Fund (the Predecessor to the Hennessy Focus Fund). Ira served as a Research Analyst at Akre Capital Management, which he joined in 2004. He previously held an investment analyst position with Ramsey Asset Management.

Ira received a BS in Finance and Accounting and a BA in Economics from the University of Maryland.
